Africa, the youngest continent by age, has the world’s youngest population living in it. What does this mean for Africa and the internet? Africa has 9.8% of internet users out of its 16% of world population. This is a massive advantage which is taking the continent to greater heights. More and more African governments are beginning to see the benefits of the internet in Africa, by offering free WiFi, donating tablets, and making African schools more  internet friendly.

Africa, the youngest continent contributes to the internet
In terms of education and entertainment, the internet has made a huge contribution to Africa’s growth. An example is Julius Yego, from Kenya, who learnt how to play Javelin by watching YouTube videos. Famous Ugandan comedian and actress, Kansiime Anne, started posting her comedy skits on YouTube in 2014. She received positive feedback and got gigs internationally. Another example is Kisua, (which means a well-dressed person in Coastal Swahili), the Nigerian fashion brand which was born and created in the youngest continent, went global with the help of social media, and  is  now recognized in both the UK and  the US. This is more proof that Africa is catching up with the global fashion industry.
Opportunities for Africa on the internet
Africans can make money on the internet by uploading videos on YouTube or selling products online. The internet has become so easily accessible and easy to use. Email your CV to companies and recruitment agencies instead of delivering  them door-to-door. It has become so convenient to shop, travel, communicate and take educational courses online. Everything is almost available on the internet and with Africa being a young continent, it is safe to say that bigger things are yet to come.

Africa taking music to a global level with the internet
Africa being the youngest continent means that we can easily adapt to whatever comes our way. If it wasn’t for the internet and our age, would we have been receptive to the vast internet changes? Would we have been offered opportunities such as the shooting of Avengers: Age of Ultron or collaborations with international artists?
