The inspiration
While tracking and publishing online mention stats on 6 African countries that were conducting elections and the referendum today, we hit on an idea to graphically display Internet and Facebook penetration stats of all African countries.
We are tracking #Congo #Benin #Niger #CapeVerde #Zanzibar #Senegal #Africanelections #1POINT1Billion #Agenda2063 pic.twitter.com/U1TB4xNVHK

The interactive graph of Internet and Facebook stats in Africa
Using InternetWorldStats as our source, we graphed Internet and Facebook penetration stats of African countries.
Hover over any of the countries on the graph for popup relevant stats (for desktop only, unfortunately).
Y-Axis: Facebook X-Axis: Internet
Findings
Tunisia has the highest Facebook penetration in Africa.
Kenya has the highest Internet penetration. This country also has the lowest correlation with Facebook.
Reunion Island has the highest Internet and Facebook correlation.
Key insight
Facebook subscriptions are not directly related to high Internet access across all the African countries.
