You can learn anything on the internet

The internet is the world’s most powerful tool. It is feared by many, loved by adopters and inaccessible to most. With this being said the internet is the best technology we have for communication, entertainment and learning.

Let us focus on the learning part for this blog. In my last blogĀ I created a video that was shot on my Samsung Galaxy S4. I has never video edited before or knew how to but thanks to the internet, I was able to produce a video that had sounds and titles. You might thinking that anybody can do that but you are very wrong. The problem with software is that you have to learn it and practice on it till you get it right. Who has this time, in a busy world and demanding jobs coupled with morning jobs that never happen and diets that seem to crash after the second day. We are human, we suffer from a disease called instant gratification or the “How can I do it quickly and effectively.”

Boom, here comes the internet, history has gone from being written in books, to being documented on the internet. How quickly can you drive you Exclusive Books and buy a ‘video editing for dummies’ book? 20 mins? 40? In 5 mins I can find over 1000 books that can give me the same information, I will also probably have on-line support.

The internet has brought information so close that we can teach ourselves almost anything at the fraction of the price in real-time. I used Adobe Premiere PRO to produce my video, I Googled a lesson and some tips and the whole thing was done in 19 mins. Rewind 20 years back and ask me to do the same video, Adobe Premiere PRO didn’t exist and I would probably have to pay someone to do the video for me as I would not have the skill or resources to do it myself.

Fast forward back to this exact moment in time and you can Google anything and I promise you that you can find some helpful information. Obviously you can’t type, “Where to find flight MH370” but once that plane is found, we can fast forward 50 years from now and someone will be able to search the internet on how to build a plane. He or she might not have the funds or experience to build the plane but they will definitely have the information to get started. A quote from the Dalai Lama about the internet.

“I think most probably that this [internet] technology will be helpful, to get information easily. In that way it will make clear what is truth, what is reality and what is false propaganda. I think that provided each individual uses their own intelligence or mind to investigate further, this technology should be very useful.”
