The economics of 2010 Fifa World Cup are not in South Africa’s favour

I am currently watching the 3rd game of the last 16 stage, where Germany and England are playing. While I am enjoying the quality of the game, I am routing for England to progress to the Quarters. This wish may not be fulfilled though, if the way Germany are currently playing is going to last for the rest of the game.The game is on the stroke of 66th minute. Why is your company not leveraging social media despite overwhelming evidence that it should?

Are companies not supposed to be microcosms of societies where they operate? If yes (and I hope it is an emphatic one), why are they (companies) left behind the social media growth curve that is driven by the same communities they are part of? Better still, are company executives not part of professional social networks such as LinkedIn? If yes (and in my experience, a good number of the executives are, judging by the growth of communities such as National CEO Network), why do they not think it is just as important for the companies they run to embrace social networks?

How long? A tribute to a murdered friend

I am paying a tribute to a friend and ex-colleague, David Gay, who was murdered last night in Bedfordview, Gauteng, ZA. I am deeply distressed by this. David was a person with a beautiful heart, a father who loved his 2 young kids and who wanted to see them grow and become the best they can be. What’s more, David loved this country and believed in its future despite all the challenges and the negative sentiment brought about by rampaging crime.
